Provider Bio
Introduction
My name is Karin Williams, owner and licensed provider at A Munchkin’s Place. I would like to take a few moments to share about myself and why I chose to become a daycare provider.
Family
I am a 26 year old mother of two beautiful children, Emily (4years) and Ethan (2years). Having children 2 years apart is definitely a handful at times, but it also brings twice the joy. Of course, my children wouldn’t be half as adorable, if it weren’t for my husband Ken. Ken and I met in high school and have been married for 5 years. He is a wonderful husband and has been so supportive of opening our home to daycare. The kids think he’s SO cool when he leaves for work on his motorcycle. They also look forward to giving him a “high 5″ goodbye in the morning! We also have a strong support system in the area, with both our extended families living close. I feel very blessed to have my wonderful family and to open my home to daycare.
Work History
Prior to daycare, I worked for Starbucks Coffee Company. I started with Starbucks when I was 18, it was my first real job. I instantly fell in love with the fast paced atmosphere and the great people. I became a store manager 2 years later and spent the next 6 years managing stores all over Roseville, Yuba City, Woodland, and Natomas. I loved my job and I poured my heart into it everyday. However, after giving birth to Ethan, I realized Starbucks wasn’t enough for me any longer. I realized that I wanted to play a more important role in my children’s education, so I decided to start a daycare. It took me a year and broken arm to make my dream come true. (Which is actually a funny story, that I can tell you about later!) The main thing Starbucks taught me was how to operate a successful business, which is a critical part of operating a great daycare.
My Daycare
I started my daycare in July of 08′, while I looking at daycares for my children. I wanted my children to have a quality early education, which I didn’t feel enough daycares provided. By starting my own preschool, I could ensure it was clean, friendly, well-run, and engaging. I believe these are things that every mom wants for their kids! As a daycare provider, I have learned so much about myself, children, communication, and teaching. I pour my heart into what I do and I am always searching for ways to do it better. That requires a lot of learning, researching, introspection, adapting and creativity. The program I have developed is a product of this process and is ever evolving into something better.
Staff
When we expand this summer, I will be hiring two assistants, to help with the daycare. I am searching for the best people. When they are hired, I will have them write their own introductions.
